Port of Argentia Inc. (the Port), is a corporation registered under the laws of Newfoundland & Labrador with the mandate to provide effective stewardship of the seaport and industrial property at Argentia, NL. The Port is seeking to fill the position of a Temporary Facilities Technician.

Facilities Technician

The Facilities Technician is a key member of the property maintenance team. Under the direction of the Port Operations Lead, the Facilities Technician performs a variety of repair and maintenance tasks to support safe and efficient operations within the marine terminal as well as across the Port’s 3000-acre industrial property, which includes buildings, equipment, and grounds.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Site monitoring; scoping, planning, and scheduling of maintenance and repairs; safely executing maintenance and repair activities; providing advice and recommendations on property and port maintenance as requested, completing other duties as assigned, and demonstrating commitment to occupational health & safety (OH&S).

The ideal candidate will have:

• Several years of experience in facility maintenance and repair.
• Good organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work individually and ability to function within and support a team working environment.
• Ability to effectively handle multiple conflicting priorities.
• Ability to perform physical labour lifting, carrying, and moving materials and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work well under pressure.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
