Port Donation Equips Local Chemotherapy Room

Port of Argentia strives to support local community organizations through various financial contributions but none are more important than providing the financial resources to improve health care. The Port is pleased to announce a donation of $10,000 to the Trinity Conception Placentia Health Foundation for the purchase of specialized equipment to upgrade the Chemotherapy Treatment Room at Placentia Health Centre. The equipment and furnishings include a chemo treatment chair, a blanket warmer unit, along with many other upgrades.

In acknowledging the contribution, Port Chairperson Genny Picco states, “Delivery of these medical services by Placentia Health Centre is vital to our community and we’re pleased to support the facility with this donation. We hope that therapy patients and those supporting them find the improvements comforting.”

Port CEO Scott Penney adds, “The Port proactively engaged with NL Health Services again this year to identify a specific need and, through collaboration, found a way to make a difference. Our entire organization is extremely proud of this outcome. Knowing that this project will provide comfort and support to cancer treatment patients and their families is very rewarding.”

Don Coombs, Chief Development Officer, Trinity Conception Placentia Health Foundation, says, “We are grateful to the Port of Argentia for their ongoing support and investment in our Placentia facility. These assets will provide value for the facility in the long term and will help ease a stressful treatment experience for our cancer patients.”

Funding for this project was committed through the Port’s community supports program.
