FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ARGENTIA, NL – Port of Argentia welcomes today’s announcement by the Government of Canada and Marine Atlantic of major investments in the province’s ferry transportation network, including significant infrastructure upgrades at the Argentia terminal.

The seasonal Argentia service plays a vital role in connecting the province to mainland Canada, supporting tourism, facilitating trade, and providing another important transportation option for residents and visitors alike.

“This is welcome news for the entire region,” said Scott Penney, CEO of Port of Argentia. “The Argentia ferry service is an important economic driver for the Placentia Bay region and the province as a whole. Investments that strengthen this connection help support local businesses and supply chains and the many communities that benefit from a reliable transportation network.”

The Port also recognizes the Government of Canada’s continued commitment to investing in strategic transportation infrastructure.

“Today’s announcement reinforces the importance of sustained public investment in critical infrastructure,” said Penney. “Modern ports, ferry terminals and transportation networks are essential to economic growth, regional competitiveness and resilient supply chains. These investments create opportunities not only today, but for decades to come.”

Port of Argentia congratulates Marine Atlantic and the Government of Canada on today’s announcement and looks forward to seeing these improvements enhance the experience for travellers, commercial operators and the broader business community.
