The Port of Argentia names Scott Penney as Chief Executive Officer

Argentia, NL (September 2, 2020) – The Port of Argentia is pleased to welcome Scott Penney as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 2, 2020.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am very pleased to announce Scott Penney as the new CEO of the Port of Argentia,” said Hedley Burge, Chair of the Port of Argentia Board of Directors. “The Port is an economic driver for southeastern Newfoundland and plays a crucial role for a diverse group of users. With his skill and industry experience, we have every confidence in Scott’s ability to lead the Port and its industrial properties, enhancing the region’s economic vitality as we move forward with new developments related to oil and gas, renewable energies, fishery and other marine and land-based developments.”

Prior to joining the Port of Argentia, Scott held progressive operational leadership roles with Pennecon, most recently as the General Manager of Marine & Logistics. Before joining Pennecon, Scott honed his business acumen and skills in business development, financial management, and community relations working with Bell Aliant, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and as a part of the Hebron GBS project. Scott is also an active community volunteer, having served as Board Chair of the Bay Bulls-Bauline Athletic Association for the last 12 years.

As the CEO of the Port, Scott will lead, promote and represent the organization by working with the volunteer Board of Directors to provide strategic direction and effective management of the operation of the Port and its tenants, and generate economic development which will positively impact the Placentia region.

“I am both excited and enthusiastic to work with the outstanding team at the Port and Board to navigate these unprecedented times to ensure the seaport and industrial properties in Argentia are appropriately stewarded for the long-term benefit of the communities and people of this region,” stated Scott Penney.
