Port of Argentia is hiring a Summer Maintenance Student to support the maintenance team in keeping Port facilities, buildings, and grounds safe, clean, and well maintained throughout the summer. This hands-on position provides an opportunity to gain experience in general maintenance, groundskeeping, and working alongside skilled tradespeople in a dynamic industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds and outdoor areas, including mowing, trimming, weeding, brush cutting, and preparing walking trails.
• Assists with interior and exterior painting, including working safely from scaffolding when required.
• Moves furniture, equipment, and materials to support maintenance and operational needs.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Picks up and delivers supplies, materials, and equipment as required.
• Assists journeypersons with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, vehicle maintenance, and general building and grounds maintenance.
• Performs general labour and maintenance duties to support the day-to-day operation of Port facilities.
• Carries out other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Clean driver’s abstract.
