Notice to Ship Harbour, Fox Harbour, Point Verde and Placentia Area Residents: Port of Argentia Board of Directors Renewal

Port of Argentia Inc. (the Port) is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to provide effective stewardship of Argentia for the long-term benefit of the communities and people of the Placentia region.

Leveraging Argentia’s unique features including the Argentia Marine Terminal (Fleet Dock) and 9,000 acres of industrial property, the Port is supporting the world energy transition as North America’s first monopile marshalling port. Upcoming critical projects include the expansion of its vessel berthing space through the Cooper Cove Dock Expansion Project, and the Argentia Renewables onshore wind farm project.

The Port is governed by a Board of Directors (the Board) which meets with the Management Team monthly or as frequently as necessary to effectively guide the organization toward achieving its mission. Board members are paid a director stipend for this service.

The Port is currently seeking Candidates to fill vacancies on the Board. Candidates selected will serve up to a 3-year term, commencing 1 May 2025. The Board consists of nine (9) positions. All positions are filled from members of the public that apply as a Candidate and match the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Principal residence in the Port’s mandated area – Ship Hr., Fox Hr., Point Verde & Placentia
  2. Age of majority (19 years) and older
  3. Nominated by two (2) residents in the Port’s mandated area
  4. Fully completed application submitted before the submission deadline
    (Note, an individual who has completed a term of service on the Board is eligible to reapply)

The selection process will take place as follows:

  1. Applicants will apply confidentially through the Port’s on line application process at Board of Directors Digital Application Form, or by regular mail or hand delivery to: Board Selection Committee, 1 Augusta Ave., P.O. Box 95, Argentia, NL A0B 1W0.
  2. Only fully completed applications which are received digitally or in print up to 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 27, 2025 will be accepted.
  3. Candidates will receive verification that the application was received and provided with the record number assigned.
  4. Eligible Candidates will be selected for service based on his/her skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the Port mandate.
